Melaka Man Burns To Death When Motorcycle Explodes After Collision With Car

MELAKA: A motorcyclist burned to death when his vehicle burst into flames after colliding with a car at the Limbongan Permai junction here last night.

The deceased has been identified as Muhamad Shaiful Azman, 20, an air conditioner serviceman from Taman Tanjung Minyak, Melaka.

The driver of the car, a 30-year-old salesman from Taman Kesidang, escaped uninjured.

In the 10.10pm incident, Shaiful’s motorcycle crashed into the car, which was making a U-turn at the traffic light junction.

“The motorcyclist, riding an RXZ, was heading towards the Limbongan Permai traffic light near the McDonald’s restaurant, when he collided with the car.

“The impact of the collision caused the motorcycle to burst into flames and the motorcyclist died at the scene eight minutes later,” said Melaka Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Superintendent Mohd Sham Abdullah.

Both vehicles were sent to Puspakom for compliance tests, he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
