Bodies Of Two Missing Teenagers Found In Monsoon Drain

Pic: NSTPPic: NSTPKUALA LUMPUR: The bodies of two teenagers who were swept by strong currents after falling into a monsoon drain on Monday were recovered in Kampung Muhibbah this morning.

City Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said the search and rescue (SAR) team found the bodies of Mohammad Shafiq Akmal Amran and Rafiuddin Fakhrullah Ridzuan, both 13, at 8am.

“They were found 50 metres apart in the monsoon drain,” he said.

On Monday, the victims and their friend Aidil Azhar Sham Saffiri, 13, were on their way home from their school SMK Taman Yarl.

They were crossing the monsoon drain near PPR Muhibbah at about 3pm but Shafiq and Rafiuddin fell and were swept away by the strong current while Aidil managed to escape.

More than 100 personnel from the police, fire and rescue department, Civil Defence Force (APM) and City Hall were involved in the operation.
