LAHAD DATU: Sulu terrorists were believed to have referred to Tajul Muluk as a guide to fight Malaysian security forces during their attack here five years ago.

The book, found at their hideout in Kampung Tanduo, is filled with symbols believed to be strategies and plans to defeat Malaysian security forces.

The “special schedule” was among the items belonging to the terrorists being exhibited at a gallery in Kampung Tanduo Post here.

Based on the documents, the intruders from southern Philippines were believed to have made early preparations before attacking Kampung Tanduo.

They seemed to have made a special plot detailing five symbols: good or victory, zero (no result), content (has obtained something), corpse (meaning their comrade has fallen) and alive (all members are safe).

Built after the battle ended between the terrorists and the security forces, the gallery showcases 23 items, including those retrieved from Kampung Tanduo.

Also exhibited on the gallery’s wall is a black amulet.

According to the beliefs of the terrorist group, it would make them invincible in facing their opponents. Besides that, there are also pictures of enemies who were caught and killed during the skirmishes.

Pictures of the ground zero aftermath, besides equipment and attire worn by the enemies, like barong (Sulu machete), camouflage uniforms and pants, were also part of the exhibits.

Also on display were scaled-down models of the battlefield and the intrusion in Lahad Datu, as well as the map of the movement of the security forces.

However, the public is not allowed to enter Kampung Tanduo Post as it is an operations zone. One requires clearance from Esscom to enter. The terrorists were taken down under Op Daulat on March 5, 2013.
