Strange When Opposition Rejects Redelineation Exercise After Claiming It's Beneficial - Kedah MB

ALOR SETAR -- Kedah UMNO chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah today said he found it strange when the opposition rejected the redelineation of electoral boundaries when at the same time claimed that the exercise would benefit them more rather than the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Ahmad Bashah, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar, if the opposition’s claim was true, they should use it to their advantage and accept the recommendations made by the Election Commission (EC).

“Strangely, it is not the case. They have been opposing the proposal from the beginning and it looks like they are not smart.

“If I am the opposition, I will support the redelineation exercise and call on other members of the opposition to support it to help wrest back Kedah (from BN), (and retain) Penang and Selangor,” he told reporters here today.

He said this in response to the claims by Kedah Pakatan Rakyat deputy chairman Dr Azman Ismail that the redelineation exercise would actually be in favour of Pakatan Harapan, and would not benefit BN.

Ahmad Bashah said the claim by the opposition was just a gimmick to create the perception they had the support of the people.
