They Are Not Married, Says Father Of Tree Fall Victim

KUALA LUMPUR: The two motorists who sustained major injuries after crashing into a fallen tree in front of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) earlier this week are not husband and wife.

Abdul Rashid Hussein, 54 who was speaking on behalf of his daughter, Mira Ezva, 25, said she is not the wife of the injured rider Norazrul Ahmad, 37.

"I only got to know of the claims that they are married when many people started to telephone me about the news," he said.

He said that his daughter could have been traumatised when she gave the interview.

"I am only clarifying the matter to make things right," said her father when he was met outside the Traffic Police station in Jalan Tun HS Lee today.

Although Mira was discharged yesterday and was at the station, she declined to address the media.

Abdul Rashid also said the man who was riding the motorcycle when the incident happened is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

"He has suffered serious injuries, so he is still in the ICU," he said.

He added that his daughter is suffering from trauma and is not in a stable mental condition at the moment. She had also suffered external injuries during the accident, which included bleeding on the
head and scratches on her face.

The two were on their way to work in Ampang Point at 7.25am on Monday when they rammed the uprooted tree.
