ISKANDAR PUTERI -- The New Johor Decade policy, introduced by the Johor state government, is in line with national agendas namely, Vision 2020 and the National Transformation 2050 (TN50).

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the New Johor Decade policy was formulated with the aim of transforming the state to become the most developed and prosperous state within the next 10 years.

“All the development policies and agendas planned by the state government, including the New Johor Decade, did take into account their compatibility and suitability with the national policies and agendas.

“It is in line, as well as complements the aspirations contained in Vision 2020 and TN50,” he said.

He said this in his reply to a supplementary question from Azahar Ibrahim (BN-Tenang) who wanted to know the aspirations of the New Johor Decade and whether it was in line with national agendas such as Vision 2020 and TN50.

Mohamed Khaled said as he often emphasised, the New Johor Decade was a part of preparation efforts to embrace the future.

It was not designed for a short-term goal and not just an idea that aimed at meeting today’s problems, instead, it did take into account all the future challenges, he said, adding that similar to the Vision 2020 and TN50, the policy also emphasised on the development of infrastructure and human capital.

He said the New Johor Decade policy was planned to be implemented for a period of 10 years for several reasons, among them was that 10 years was a realistic time frame.
