No Parliamentary Seat For Me, Says Pahang MB

BENTONG: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob today brushed off rumours that he will contest in a parliamentary seat in the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).

Adnan, who is also Pahang Umno liaison committee chairman, however, did not rule out that the possibility of fielding candidates to contest in both parliamentary and state seat.

"We will try to field candidates who have the potential to contest in both seats but I am not under that category," he told reporters after handing over offer letters to Kampung Baris People's Housing Project recipients here today.

Adnan was commenting on rumours that he might move to contest in a parliamentary seat for GE14.

He has been contesting the Pelangai state seat in Bentong since 1986 before being elected as the menteri besar in 1999.

Meanwhile, Adnan, who is also the state Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said Pahang BN's manifesto for GE14 will be "realistic and achievable".

"Our manifesto contains initiatives to assist the people, for example, providing scholarship to primary and secondary school students.

"Items in the manifesto will be for a long term and it will be continuously carried out for people from various race and age groups," he said.

Adnan also reminded the people not to be easily duped by the promises made by Pakatan Harapan in their manifesto including removing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as it will affect the government's efforts towards building the nation.

Also present was State Housing and Municipal Committee chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
