Zahid: Aidilfitri A Time For Unity Among All

KUALA LUMPUR: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration is one of the many festive occasions for Malaysians especially the Muslim community to foster a stronger sense of camaraderie as well as to steer clear of disunity, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid, who is now carrying out the duties of Umno president, called upon the Muslim community to refrain from neglecting their ibadah and strive towards becoming a better individual by continuing to appreciate the blessings from Allah.

The former deputy prime minister also extended an invitation to Malaysians from other races and religions to continue the tradition of joining their Muslim friends in celebrating Aidifiltri, fostering happiness and unity among people in the country.

“Strengthening the bond of “ukhwah” (brotherhood in Islam) among the “Muslimin” and “Muslimah” will help to safeguard harmony among people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and religions in order for us to ensure the nation is free from any adversity.

“It is important to nurture and educate the younger generation to accept differences and remind them not to impose their will on others.

“We must not be gullible to (quarters instigating) differences in an attempt to create disunity (among the people),” said Zahid in a special address in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Zahid also called on the Muslim community to continue with their religious obligations and commitments to ensure they attain the highest position of Islam.

“Together with my family and fellow comrades, I would like take this opportunity to wish Salam Aidilfitri to all the party top leadership and Umno members at the branch, division, state and national levels.

“I would like to also extend my Hari Raya Aidilfitri wishes to the people. I believed the people still support us to continue championing race, religion and the country,” he said.
