Authorities Issue 23 Notices In CIDB Integrated Operations

SANDAKAN -- The authorities issued 23 notices against contractors at two sites in the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Integrated Operations at 7th Mile of Jalan Airport here today.

The operation, which began at 9 am, involved 76 personnel from the Immigration Department, Malaysian Construction Academy, Health Department, Labour Department, Sandakan Municipal Council, Department of Environment (JAS), Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia, Companies Commission of Malaysia and the Energy Commission (ST).

Sabah CIDB director Rosman Ag Hassan said the board had issued seven notices including two stop work notices against subcontractors and construction workers who did not register with CIDB.

Sixteen other notices were issued by the Health Department, ST and JAS following the discovery of stagnant waters, unsafe electrical wiring and open burning respectively, he told reporters after the integrated operations here.

Rosman said 11 foreign workers, namely nine men and two women, were being detained by the Immigration Department.
