The full-page ad appeared in The Star on TuesdayThe full-page ad appeared in The Star on TuesdayKUALA LUMPUR: A list of Ten Most Powerful Woman In Malaysia was printed in a full-page advertorial in English daily The Star on Tuesday, naming Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor as the number one most powerful woman in the country.

Several other women who made the list are also scratching their heads as to how and who put the list together.

Malaysiakini, on Wednesday, reported that Hannah Yeoh, Subang Jaya assemblyperson, who sits at number 6 on the list, said she was clueless about the advertorial.

It is not known which party paid for the full page advertisement, but according to The Star's advertising rate card, the advertorial would have cost at least RM42,120.

In a blog posting by veteran journalist Datuk A Kadir Jasin, he said the advertorial, according to the Star's advertising department was taken out by a 'Sendirian Berhad' company, however the paper declined to identify further.

The list not only sparked controversy due to its mysterious nature, but also due to the woman who sits at number 8.

Geethanjali G, a THR Raaga radio announcer was selected as the number 8 most powerful woman in Malaysia.

Malaysiakini today published a report that says speculations are rife Geethanjali's company G Global Media had made up the list and paid for the advertorial to create publicity for the former Miss Malaysia.

The list described her as a fashionista and a global speaker, however many are questioning if her husband, a mysterious but supposedly wealthy man was behind the list.

The radio announcer, who also has a talkshow on Astro Vaanavil, has since posted the ranking on her Facebook fan page which has 1,994 likes. 

On another Facebook fan page, Geethanjali G Thr Raaga has 33,254 fans.

Geethanjali told Malaysiakini that she has been bombarded with calls ever since the list came out, and strongly denies she had anything to do with putting together the list.

Others on the list are Datuk S Ambiga, Nurul Izzah Anwar and DAP's Teresa Kok.

Ambiga, earlier, also mentioned she was in the dark about the list but was disappointed that the list did not mention her work in Bersih.
