Life at Nou Camp Ain't That Rosy, Fabregas

HOLA!

Did Cesc Fabregas make a wrong move to join Barcelona?

The former Arsenal captain signed up with the Catalan giants last summer and enjoyed a reasonably good time last season where he had some fruitful playing time under the then manager Josep 'Pep' Guardiola.

Everyone was happy including the fans, then.

However, things have not been good for the 25-year-old midfielder this season where he is struggling to have playing time and is considered lucky to be on the bench for that matter. He seems to be lacking in confidence.

Fabregas, who used to be with the Barca academy,  need the kind of form which made him one of the better players while with Arsenal to survive at Nou Camp.

To make it worst, Barca have several good midfielders and strikers to make competition for places in Tito Vilanova's team pretty, pretty  stiff. There are stars like Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Alexis Sanchez, Pedro and David Villa.

Lionel Messi? Forget it, Fabregas can never take over his place unless he is injured or suspended.

There have already been reports of Fabregas to be loaned out to interested parties so that he can get more playing time unlike at Nou Camp. This is especially to help him in view of his international career with Spain.

And fans have started talking as well about Fabregas' predicament. Some are starting to criticize him.

Fabregas, on his part,  has made it clear that he was fully aware of what to expect at Barca when he returned to Nou Camp.

"It looks like the entire world has all of a sudden decided to say that the pressure is getting to me... I knew that there would be pressure to perform when I got here, I'm not stupid," Fabregas told Informativos Telecinco.

"I knew what to expect at Barca. I'm competing with players such as Xavi, Iniesta and  Messi. They are the best players in the world.

"Every player goes through good times and bad times, but you have to fight for your spot. I have always done just that and will continue to do so. You have to accept certain things in football."

Fabregas has a good chance to prove his worth this weekend when Barca play Getafe away at  Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Sunday (2am). This is because Iniesta and Sanchez have been ruled out because of injuries.

The question is that Fabregas may still not be able to make the first 11 as Barca have fast improving youngsters who can be relied too.

It is going to a big challenge for Fabregas from now on.

So it is important for Fabregas to shine if he is given the chance to be on the pitch. If not, he will have to be prepared to work harder in his bid to get into the team or bid adios to Nou Camp - if he does want not spend his time on the bench all the time.

Does not matter whether he is loaned out or sign up with a new team. Who knows, making a return to Emirates where he always been a regular. There was less quality at Emirates.

Barca, as it is,  are enjoying a great start to the season and now top the standings with nine points from three matches.

The Catalans will be gunning for three points on Sunday against the Madrid-based Getafe as to keep bitter rivals and champions Real Madrid at bay.

Real do not have a great start to the season where they are now in the ninth in the standings with just four points from  three matches.

This means Barca already have this five-point lead and it is still very early in the season.

El Loco feels Barca should be able to win this one, with or without Fabregas around.

Adios!
