LONDON: Jose Mourinho told Manchester City to forget any idea of trying to prise superstar Cristiano Ronaldo away from Real Madrid, reported The Sun.

The Real manager is adamant his striker — who has scored 150 goals in 149 games — is going nowhere.

When asked what he would do if City — Tuesday’s Champions League opponents — did put in a bid for Ronaldo, Mourinho said: “I would say to every club to forget Cristiano.

“Don’t waste your time... Cristiano and Real Madrid are perfect for each other.”

Mourinho also played down Ronaldo’s ‘I’m sad’ outburst which came after the 3-0 win over Granada a fortnight ago.

Ronaldo, 27, scored twice but did not celebrate, afterwards explaining: “I’m sad. When I don’t celebrate a goal it is because I’m not happy.

“It’s a professional thing. Real Madrid know why I’m not happy.”

But this morning Mourinho shrugged off his comments saying: “If Cristiano’s sad but plays the same — that’s perfect for me.”

And Mourinho is expecting nothing less than perfection in Real's Primera Liga clash in Seville tomorrow (4am) where a win will help quell the media circus sparked by Ronaldo’s comments.

Real are under enough pressure having managed just four points from three games. It means they are already five points behind bitter rivals Barcelona.

And Mourinho says Ronaldo has put himself under immense pressure.

“If he plays awful and tired I will take him off in the 75th minute like anyone else," said Mouriho.

“Finally after 15 days of talking about Ronaldo it is time to see if he plays well or not. Ronaldo now needs peace, quiet and to play football which is what he does the best and likes the best.”
