demba_baLONDON: Newcastle striker Demba Ba (pic) admitted his second goal in yesterday's 2-2 draw with Reading at Madejski was a handball, but insisted the use of his arm was unintentional.

The Senegal international scored twice to rescue a point against Reading following two goals from Jimmy Kebe and Noel Hunt.

Ba’s second goal was subject to much controversy after he met a Shane Ferguson cross with his right hand after he missed the ball with an initial header.

"What can I say? I just did not want to do it on purpose it was just unfortunate.” Ba told Sky Sports.

"Fergie just crossed the ball and I just wanted to hit it with my head. Unfortunately, it touched my hand and went in.

“I would say it is unfortunate for Reading but it is still a point for us."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew also conceded he was aware of the incident, but was quick to hail Ferguson for the ball which led to the equalizer.

"I think Demba just got a touch with his head and then it has hit his arm.” he said.

"Unfortunately the defender and the goalkeeper have got no chance.

"But if you put a quality ball in like that, you are going to get a reward. It was a bit fortunate but we will take that."
