KOTA BAHARU: The Kelantan state government today declared Oct 21 a state holiday in conjunction with the Malaysia Cup final between Kelantan and Armed Forces on Saturday at Shah Alam Stadium.State Human Development, Youth, Sports and NGOs committee chairman Datuk Abdul Fattah Mahmood said the decision was made by Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat (pic) with the consent of the state government.
"With the announcement, it is hoped that Kelantan fans will plan their trip to Kuala Lumpur. They will not have to rush back after the match since it can be a safety hazard," he told reporters here at the Menteri Besar's residence. Abdul Fattah said since Sunday would be a holiday, more Kelantan fans can be in the stadium to provide their support for the Kelantan team. He said Nik Aziz urged the players, supporters and fans to maintain their discipline at all times. Abdul Fatah said the team may also receive incentives for making it to the final and additional incentives and cash bonus also await players if they win the Malaysia Cup. Kelantan have already been assured of RM200,000 for beating Selangor in the semifinal on Friday. The east coast side have already won the Super League and FA Cup this season. Meanwhile, Kelantan FA president Tan Sri Annuar Musa said a bigger incentive awaits the players if they can accomplish a treble by adding the Malaysia Cup to the FA Cup and Super League titles.
