Pedro-Rodriguez-007MADRID: Barcelona attacker Pedro has accepted his role within Spain, admitting he is happy to perform what is required of him by coach Vincente del Bosque.

Pedro (pic) has scored five goals for the world and European champions - scoring a hat-trick against Belarus last time out and a double against Saudi Arabia previously - but could still find himself on the bench against France in a World Cup European qualifier Group I match in Madrid tomorrow.

"There are players like Fernando Torres and Andreas Iniesta, who are very experienced. I'm happy to contribute to the team's success and scoring my first hattrick was special, but it is more important that we secure the three points," Pedro told Spanish Football Federation website.

"All I am trying to do is to take advantage of the opportunities that come my way, and to ensure the coach has confidence in me when he needs to call on me."

The 25-year-old went on to reveal his delight at the return of his club mate and striker David Villa return to the international stage.

"Villa is very happy and training hard, with enthusiasm and confidence. It is only a matter of time before he is back to his best. He is the perfect player, and one of the best strikers in the world," said Pedro.

"We are lucky that we have players who can adapt. At the moment we are acting with a 'false 9,' but we can play with a fixed striker as well."

Pedro also spoke of the dangers Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema pose in the clash against France.

"It is a game that is very important to us, but we know it will be difficult. France are a great team with great players, such as Ribery and Benzema."

Meanwhile, Iniesta stressed the importance of maintaining a very high level of play in order to continue achieving good results for Spain.

He also quick to recognize the magnitude of the encounter against France in the context of the group.

“It is not easy for a team after winning a World Cup and European Championship to continue with the same dynamic and to remain concentrated," he said.

"But the group of players is the same and we have to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil.

"You feel privileged to be at this point with club and country. The team came together at a young age and that gave us a great advantage. I’m happy because I like what I do.

“The game we have on Tuesday is of great importance as France are direct rivals for qualification," said Iniesta.
