The Argentine midfielder first won the Malaysia Cup in 2003 with Selangor MPPJ.

Martelotto’s compatriot and striker Juan Manuel Arostegui scored a hattrick in MPPJ’s 3-0 win over Sabah in that final.

“We started our Malaysia Cup adventure without any expectations. We got off to a good start and it motivated us to keep going … and now we want to win the final,” said the 29-year-old Martelotto (pic).

“I still remember winning it with MPPJ and I want to be a Malaysia Cup champion again. We have a good side and I believe we can get the job done.”

The midfield dynamo, who played a sterling role in helping Armed Forces gain promotion to the Super League next season, expects the final against Kelantan “to be a different ball game”.

Martelotto said Forces have an awesome set of attacking players in Marlon Alex James, Hairuddin Omar, Mohd Zaquan Adha and Christie Jayaseelan.

“A final will always be 50-50 … Kelantan are a good team – with or without the suspended Lebanese striker Mohd Ghaddar Mahmoud and Mohd Norfarhan Mohd,” said Martelotto.

“Kelantan are the best team in the country at the moment. They are the Super League and FA Cup winners but we are no pushovers … we have our own strengths and I expect an exciting final.”
