JOHOR BARU: A man wearing a full-face crash helmet dashed into an entertainment center here on Wednesday night and fired a gun at random, injuring two patrons, police said today.
Johor Baharu Selatan police chief ACP Zainuddin Yaakob said the man came to the center in Jalan Damai, Taman Serene, at 11:45pm and fired five shots from a 9mm caliber semi-automatic pistol.
One of the shots hit a 42-year-old man in the right calf and another hit a 51-year-old man on the left side of the chest, he said.
"We are investigating the motive for the shooting, and have classified the case as attempt to murder," he told reporters after visiting one of the victims in hospital.
The other man was discharged from hospital yesterday. Ten people, among them some employees, were at the center during the incident, Zainuddin said
