PETALING JAYA, 26 JANUARY, 2012: Kelantan goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat has denied speculation that he is no longer committed to the national Olympic squad after failing to report for centralised training which began at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday.

The ace goalkeeper more popularly known as 'Apek' made headlines in the sports pages following the no-show.

"It (no-show) was because of a miscommunication between me and the management of the FA of Kelantan. Nevertheless, I am back in training with the rest of my teammates," he said when met after today's training session at Wisma FAM's grounds.

The national Olympic squad are scheduled play their fourth round Group C match in the Asian Zone qualifiers against Bahrain in Manama on Feb 5.

The squad made up of 25 players and coached by Ong Kim Swee will be leaving for the Gulf nation on Feb 1.

Khairul Fahmi said the situation arose becuase he had been given dispensation to return to Kelantan to play for the state team in the Super League.

The 23-year-old deemed the matter had been settled and that Kim Swee had also been informed of the actual situation.

"I am tied to a contract with Kelantan and also have my national duties... obviously the nation comes first.

"Tomorrow, I will make a short trip to Kota Bharu for Kelantan's match against Kuala Lumpur on Saturday," he added.
