TEHRAN: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said that Iran manager Carlos Queiroz or Real Madrid Jose Mourinho would be ideal candidates to manage the Red Devils after he retires, Mehr News Agency reported.

In an interview on Britain's Radio One with DJ Spoony, Ferguson said: "Those two are good managers with proven track records. We need to go down that road at United. We need to have someone with experience".

He made these comments when asked if Mourinho or Queiroz – who has coached Real Madrid, Manchester United and Portugal – would make ideal candidates due to their stock in the game.

The 70-year old Man U manager, who has been at his post for 25 years, later tipped Mourinho as the prime contender to succeed him and tame the 'beast' of Old Trafford's club.

Mourinho is a Portuguese football manager, currently the head coach of Real Madrid. He is commonly known as "The Special One". Mourinho is regarded by some players, coaches, and critics as one of the best football coaches of all time.

While, Queiroz is a Portuguese football manager. He is currently the manager of the Iran national football team. A former manager of Real Madrid, he has also twice been the manager of the Portugal national football team and twice been Alex Ferguson's assistant manager at English club Manchester United.
