altLONDON: Striker Luis Suarez has trebled his Liverpool wages after signing a new four-year-deal.He will now earn £120,000 a week to end Juventus’ hopes of tempting him to Italy.

Suarez, also known as 'Él Pistolero' was already tied to Anfield until 2015 but will extend that by a further 12 months and he now has parity with big earners like Steven Gerrard.

It also ends fears he may quit the Reds after the race row with Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.

“The new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me. I am so happy here with the club and in the city,” said the 25-year-old Uruguay international.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted with deal.

"There were a few clubs interested in him but he’s committed himself for the long term here now,” he said.

Rodgers will focus on bringing in a host of new faces to join him — as well as keeping Daniel Agger out of Manchester City’s clutches.

Liverpool will not entertain doing business for less than £20million, yet could be tempted if City throw winger Adam Johnson into the equation.

Joe Allen is expected to rejoin his old gaffer on Merseyside after meeting new Swansea manager Michael Laudrup today to tell him he wants out.

Birmingham keeper Jack Butland is also on the radar while Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin is expected at Anfield on a possible loan deal.

Suarez met Rodgers for the first time on Monday after Olympics duty but hopes to play in tomorrow’s Europa League qualifier with FC Gomel.
