BARCELONA: Argentine wizard Lionel Messi is delighted with Barcelona's 5-1 win over Real Sociedad their Primera Liga's opener Nou Camp yesterday.
Messi (pic) scored two goals to get the Catalans off to a winning start, and he is full of ambition for the remainder of the season.
"We’re a team that want to keep on winning important titles for the club. I want to win it all, just like manager Tito Vilanova. It will be difficult, but we’ll try. It’s important to start off winning," Messi told Barca TV.
"Despite having a new manager, the team continue to play with the same philosophy. We’re playing with the same style of play."
The Argentina international then looked ahead to the Spanish Super Cup against bitter rivals Real Madrid over two legs. And he expects them to be two complicated matches.
"It will be a complicated match because they are experienced rivals. The key to success is that all players actively participate so that we can score goals."
The first leg takes place at Nou Camp on Thursday.
Meanwhile, striker David Villa took to Twitter to express his gratitude towards the Barca fans who supported him during his lengthy injury lay-off.
Villa came on for the last 15 minutes against Sociedad and sealed his comeback by notching Barca's last goal in the comfortable victory.
The former Valencia man had been sidelined with a broken leg since December, and was quick to pay tribute to everybody at the Catalan club upon his return.
"(Sunday) was a special day for me'," Villa told his 1,850,000 followers. "Everybody made me feel as though all the months of effort have been worth it.
"Thanks to everyone who has been at my side during this time. It would have been impossible without your love and support.
"Many thanks to the Barcelona supporters for the great ovation they received me with last night in Nou Camp. I will never forget it."
Following his goal, Villa revealed an undershirt adorned with a picture of his family and the words "Impossible without you".
