Eden_Hazard24LONDON: Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo expressed his delight at coming through a stern test after seeing the Blues came back from a goal down to beat newly-promoted Reading 4-2 in a thrilling Premier League match at Stamford Bridge this morning.

Frank Lampard's opener via a penalty in the 18th minute was cancelled out by Pavel Pogrebnyak seven minutes later. Then the visitors stunned Chelsea when Danny Guthrie made it 2-1 in the 29th minute.

It looked like an upset might be on the cards but Gary Cahill equalized in the 69th minute and late goals from Fernando Torres and Branislav Ivanovic in the 81st and stoppage time sealed Chelsea's comeback.

Di Matteo was again impressed with the performances of his new signings like Eden Hazard, and felt his team deserved their victory.

Hazard (pic) was in his element as he was involved in three of the goals this morning. The Belgium international also provided two assists in the 2-0 win over Wigan last Sunday.

Chelsea, with this win, are now on top of the standings with six points.

"It was a very entertaining game for the supporters. I was very pleased with how we started but then we lost a bit of our composure," he told Sky Sports.

"In the second half we wanted to keep them under pressure and we did so. We had to take a bit of a risk but we managed to get the goals and win the game."

Asked if he was worried early in the second half, Di Matteo said: "I thought we were good for a goal because we were keeping them under pressure and creating chances, although you re never 100 per cent sure."

Di Matteo praised Reading admitting the visitors presented Chelsea with a stern test.

"They were very tough opponents. We expected them to be tough, and I had said to the players after watching Southampton on Sunday against Manchester City that newly-promoted teams have all the spirit and enthusiasm from coming back up, and they made it very  hard for us," he said.
