LONDON: Manchester city manager Roberto Mancin (pic) i says they need to become more clinical in front of goal at key moments in order to enjoy a successful campaign after their 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers this morning.
Yaya Toure gave City the lead at the Etihad Stadium before Bobby Zamora scored a shock equaliszr, but Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez struck to ensure a second home win of the season.
It follows a narrow 3-2 win over Southampton and a battling 2-2 draw at Liverpool for the Premier League champions, and Mancini feels his side must start to take their big chances in matches.
"I think we played well the first half, but we have one problem at the moment - when we have a chance to score, we don't score, and the game can change," he told ESPN.
"We had this problem in the first game and against Liverpool. In the second half we didn't play well. We were too slow but in the end it's important that we took three points."
City have also failed to record a clean sheet so far this campaign, but captain Vincent Kompany is unfazed by such a statistic and is certain his side will improve over the coming months.
"No it doesn't matter. We've always proved to be solid come difficult times. Come December, January and February we'll show it," he said.
"At this time everyone tries to play the game nicely. We left ourselves exposed but at the end of the season we won't do that."
Despite conceding and looking vulnerable in defence at times, Kompany is adamant City have all the fundamental tactics in place, and it will soon start to show in their results.
"I think probably we worked really hard to keep possession and create chances and if after a while you don't score your chances you let other team into the game. It just seems to be one of those things.
"QPR didn't have any chances before that - one shot on goal and we were unlucky with the deflection.
"But we showed how much character we have. We seem to cope well with any downs we have."
