LONDON: Swansea confirmed Neil Taylor will miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken ankle during Saturday's 2-2 draw against Sunderland.
Taylor (pic) was hurt during the opening 20 minutes at Liberty Stadium and was taken to hospital, where he has undergone surgery.
The Swans confirmed that the Wales international dislocated and broke his ankle in three places and he will now be sidelined until next season..
"The surgeons worked hard on Neil's injury last night and did a very good job,'' Swansea's head physio Kate Rees told the club's website.
"He is comfortable and the surgeons are happy with the operation.
"While he should make a full recovery, the extent of the injury means Neil is likely to miss the rest of the season."
Taylor has been an influential figure during Swansea's rise to the Premier League and played a key part in the club's impressive last campaign.
The leftback had been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United, and was also part of the Team GB squad at the Olympics earlier this summer.
