Microsoft's Holodesk combines a Xbox Kinect sensor and a beam-splitter to create a virtual 3D environment. A tool that lets you manipulate virtual 3D objects with your bare hands. A top-mounted projector displays an image downward toward a work area, and a piece of half silvered glass sends the image towards the eyeballs while still allowing the user to see what’s going on.The key to the whole system is a webcam tracks the location of your head and eyes to make sure the orientation of the projection stays constant. The project works with other objects too.
