THE government is unaware of allegations that cash is being dangled at university students in exchange for their participation at this year's National Day celebration, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Koh Tsu Koon.
"I am not aware of this. The National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) is mobilizing members of the Jiran Muda who is part of Rukun Tetangga. We give them transportation and food. That's all," he was quoted as saying in a report by The Star today.
Koh clarified that the government was not specifically going to varsities to recruit participants for the celebration.
