No Malaysians Affected By Wildfires In California

KUALA LUMPUR – There has been no reports of Malaysians affected by the forest fires in southern California, United Statesm which broke out on Monday and have now spread over a 28,600- hectare area, said a Foreign Ministry statement.

The fires in Venture Country have destroyed at least 150 buildings while 46,000 residents were moved to safe areas by the local authorities.

“The Foreign Ministry has expresses sympathies to all the victims in this diaster. The Malaysian Consulate- General in Los Angeles is monitoring the current situation and will extend appropriate aid if needed,” said the statement.

On Tuesday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Gracetti declared an emergency to distribute emergency aid to the victims in the affected areas.
